A Calling, Discovered in Craft

In 2020, an encounter with a Zari Kota weaver led to what would become a sustained commitment to the craft.

The Zari Kota Revival Project focuses on studying and extending the weave through close work with artisans and a precise design approach.

Today, the practice spans textile development and production, creating pieces meant to be held onto and carried forward.

About Our Founder

Preety Singh Pareek

Founder & Director, SónChiraiya

From an early age, Mrs. Preety was enchanted by her grandfather’s stories of India’s bygone glories and enduring traditions. But it was when she met a struggling Zari Kota weaver during the pandemic, she found her calling.

This encounter gave rise to the Zari Revival Project, preserving a nearly forgotten craft and uplifting artisan communities. She reinterpreted Zari Kota with contemporary motifs, colour palettes, and patterns, transforming an obscure weave into a globally celebrated textile.

Today, she is a textile revivalist and sustainable fashion advocate, personally overseeing design, production, and client experiences, creating heirloom handlooms for a global clientele.
