From Loom to Legacy:
A glimpse into the meticulous journey of our saree where heritage, patience, and craftsmanship come together to create an enduring heirloom.
Every SónChiraiya saree begins long before the first thread touches the loom. It starts with a story—of heritage, patience, and hands that have carried the knowledge of weaving for generations.
THE ORIGIN OF THE THREAD
The journey begins with carefully selected pure cotton and natural silk threads. These fibres are chosen not only for their quality but for their ability to lend strength, structure, and breathability to the fabric. Real gold and silver zari are then prepared, ensuring authenticity and longevity—true to the heirloom philosophy we stand by.
SETTING THE LOOM
Each saree is woven on a traditional pit loom in Kaithoon, Rajasthan. Preparing the loom itself is a meticulous process, requiring precision and time. The warp is set by hand, aligned carefully to create the foundation for Zari Kota's signature khats—the delicate check pattern that defines the weave.
THE WEAVING PROCESS
Once the loom is ready, master artisans begin weaving, inch by inch.
This stage demands immense focus and skill, as cotton, silk, and zari threads
come together in perfect harmony. Depending on the complexity of the design,
this process can take several weeks to months.
There are no shortcuts—only rhythm, repetition, and an inherited understanding
of the craft.
FINISHING WITH CARE
After weaving, the saree undergoes careful finishing. It is gently washed, sun-dried, and inspected to ensure the weave, zari placement, and texture meet our standards. Any imperfections are corrected by hand, preserving the integrity of the fabric.
An Heirloom in
the Making
What emerges is not just a saree, but a piece of living heritage. Designed to endure time, each SónChiraiya saree is meant to be worn, cherished, and eventually passed down—carrying stories of craftsmanship, culture, and conscious creation.
This is how we make our sarees.
Slowly. Thoughtfully. By hand.
